Fourth Sunday in Advent

John the Baptist matters not because of who he is but because of who he points to – Jesus. If we would receive John’s testimony then we will turn our eyes away from him and toward the Lord Jesus who is the true Prophet who is to come into the world and the true Christ who takes away the sins of the world. John desires that you believe in this Jesus, follow Him, and receive life in His Name. If we would receive John’s testimony then we will repent of our sins and receive the Baptism of water and the Spirit whereby we are cleansed of our sins and filled with the Holy Spirit. If we would receive John’s testimony then we will flee from the wrath that is to come, flee the wickedness of the world, trust alone in Jesus Christ, and bear fruit in keeping with repentance. I look forward to seeing you this coming Lord’s Day.
