Palmarum

How quickly the mood changes. We move from the loud Hosannas to the cries of “Crucify Him!” Such is the fickleness of sinners – one minute praising God, the next minute cursing our neighbor under our breath. And such is the varied response to Christ that we find in the world. Some receive Him with great joy and rejoice in the salvation that He brings. Others hate Christ because He clearly holds up our sin and cuts off all our attempts at self-righteousness. God grant that each of us receive Christ with palm branches of joy as we urge our Savior on to the cross where He will bear our sins in His flesh and open to us the gates of the heavenly Jerusalem. I look forward to seeing you this coming Sunday as we enter into the holy and precious time of Holy Week and devote ourselves to meditation on the Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ. Everyone is strongly encouraged to set aside the time to come to Matins as often as you are able as well as services on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. May God richly bless this Holy Week for us all.
