Second Sunday after the Epiphany

God is lavish in His care.  It may not always feel like it but you can always be assured that your needs are known by your heavenly Father and whatever is good will be given to you.  It certainly does seem strange that when the wine ran out at the wedding feast, Mary went looking for Jesus.  It wasn’t His wedding.  He wasn’t the groom.  The wine wasn’t His responsibility.  And even though He seemed to rebuke the idea of Him doing something about it, Mary still, in faith, told the servants to do what ever Jesus told them.  She fully expected His help, whatever that turned out to be.  And help Jesus did.  He provided an abundance of the best wine anyone there had ever tasted.  He truly has done the same for us.  He has provided the wine that bears with it His own life-giving Blood.  He invites you to be the guest at His banquet and to receive the wine of salvation.  May God grant us His Holy Spirit and draw us to this feast of the forgiveness of our sins – the marriage feast of the Lamb.  I look forward to seeing all of you tomorrow.
