Second Sunday in Lent

In our sinful hearts, we find temptation to be complicated largely because we don’t know God’s Word as we should and because our flesh doesn’t want to do what is right.  When Jesus is tempted in the wilderness, we see that sin is not actually complicated because God’s Word is clear.  There is no need for us to get into a philosophical debate about sin.  What does God’s Word say?  When we know the Word of God through corporate and individual study, we have an impenetrable defense against all the wiles of Satan.  Satan cannot stand before God’s Word.  It is imperative that we know what God has spoken or we will be blown about by every temptation and false teaching that comes our way.  This Lententide, set aside extra time for you and your family to hear and be strengthened by the Word of God.  Don’t rob yourself or your family of the only weapons that can drive off Satan and his lies.  Gather in your homes daily for devotions.  Gather in the armory of the Lord’s house weekly where the Holy Spirit prepares you for battle that you might not fall and be lost.  I look forward to seeing each of you this coming Lord’s Day that we might be strengthened together.
