Jesus cried out “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!” This is what we as Christians are called to do – fill the ears that God gave us with His Word. The Word of God bears fruit. It never leaves His mouth without accomplishing exactly that for which He sent it. Sometimes what we hear from God makes us uncomfortable and we want to resist either because we don’t like the consequences or because it reveals our sins. But we need to hear this word, let it do its work, and repent. Those who do repent of their sins and listen to the Word will hear the good news of salvation and the forgiveness of all their sins. The Word is how God works in you to save you, to strengthen you, to bear fruit in you, to teach you, to guide you, to strengthen and encourage you. God grant to each of us ears to hear and hearts whose most fervent desire is to be taught by the Word of God that we may be filled with true, Godly wisdom. I look forward to seeing you this coming Lord’s Day and let us pray together that God would open our ears to hear and our hearts to believe.
