Third Sunday After Trinity

One of the many criticisms of the Church is that it is full of hypocrites – people who claim to be holy but do unholy things.  But the truth is that those who level that charge are really the hypocrites.  Those in Christ’s Church are precisely those who confess that they are sinners who deserve God to turn away from them in anger and cast them into eternal judgment.  We don’t come to church because we think we are good.  That person who believes he is good is most certainly a hypocrite and does not believe God’s Word.  We come to Church, we come to Jesus, because we are evil and desire the cleansing and forgiveness He alone can and wants to give.  We don’t rejoice in our sin but in Christ’s desire to forgive it and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  Come, sinners one and all.  Jesus has come to call sinners to repentance.  Let us gather together this Lord’s Day as sinners to sit and eat with Jesus.
