Twentieth Sunday after Trinity

When someone like the king invites you to his table to celebrate, you go. We can imagine this. If some famous or powerful person invited us today to eat at their house, we would move heaven and earth to get there if for no other reason than to show respect. Yet, when God the Father issues His invitation to the feast of life and salvation, so many excuse themselves. So many find it unimportant. So many treat their earthly concerns as more important than receiving forgiveness from God which He obtained by sacrificing His own Son on our behalf. God isn’t interested in excuses. He’s interested in having sinners at His table so that He may forgive them and save them. Let us set aside all earthly entanglements that keep us from the Lord’s table so that we may partake of the rich blessings He provides for us there. I look forward to seeing you this coming Lord’s Day.
